Obituary of Geraldine Gillespie

Geraldine Gillespie (nee Storm), lovingly known as "Gerry" passed away peacefully Friday morning, February 24, 2023 surrounded by her family at home. 

Born in Manhattan, she grew up in West Orange, NJ before moving to the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany in 1973. 

Gerry earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Seton Hall University in 1966. She worked in an actuarial group of the Mutual Benefit Insurance Co. in Newark and later worked at the dental office of Dr. Polk in Parsippany for 16 years, retiring in 2003. 

Gerry was known for her warm smile, optimistic outlook on life, humility, and devotion to her family and friends.  She enjoyed attending Broadway shows and traveling throughout the United States and Europe with her husband. 

Gerry is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Peter H. Gillespie; three loving children, Suzanne Turner and her husband, Robert of St. Simons Island, GA, Nancy Florez and her husband, Richard of Hudson, MA, and Joseph Gillespie and his wife, Marisa of Denville, NJ; her dear siblings, Veronica Brown and her husband, John of Pinehurst, NC, and Joseph Storm of West Orange, NJ; and beloved “Gigi” to five cherished grandchildren, Juliana and Riley Turner, Daniel and Veronica Florez, and Luca Gillespie. Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Margaret Storm and a brother, James Storm. 

Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday, March 1, 2-4pm & 7-9pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 2, 10:00am at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, Parsippany. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
