Obituary of John P. Moran

John P. Moran, 62, passed away on April 19, 2026, in Oahu.

Born to John and Gladys Moran, John was the youngest of five children. He was caring and social. He had many friends and a deep love for animals.

Following high school, John began his career with Xerox. It wasn’t long before he requested a transfer to Hawaii. Struggling with lung health, John found healing in the island’s fresh air and warm climate. The winters were tolerable and he embraced each day.

John was creative and had a talent for drawing, especially cartoons. His adventurous spirit prompted him to attend aviation school and later, learn how to surf. His curiosity and passion for holistic living led him to further his education, earning a Bachelor’s degree in religion from the University of Hawaii, followed by a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine and acupuncture. He devoted years as a substance abuse counselor on the island.

Although his time was brief, he embraced each day and held a deep faith which carried him though the challenging ones.

He leaves his siblings Michael Moran, Sharon Andes (Tom), and Coleen Caulfield (James), nine nieces and nephews and other extended family. His parents John and Gladys and his brother Stephen predeceased him.

A Memorial Mass at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 179 Baldwin Road, Parsippany will be held on May 16 at 09:30 am. Interment with his parents at Gate of Heaven Cemetery to follow. Arrangements under the direction of the S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Home.
