Obituary of Nestor Lotilla Uy

Please share a memory of Nestor to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Nestor Lotilla Uy passed away peacefully, Wednesday morning April 22, 2026 at his Pine Brook, NJ home surrounded by the love of his family.  He was 83.

Born in Sibalom, Antique, Philippines, Nestor was the youngest of four children of the town's mayor Santiago Lotilla and his wife Rosa Pechueco.  Two months after Nestor was born, Rosa passed away and he was raised by his aunt Elisa and uncle Ignacio Uy.  Nestor always thought of Elisa and Ignacio as his parents and therefore adopted their surname Uy.

After graduating from Iloilo Chinese Commercial High School, Nestor attended the University of the East, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and completed the Reserve Officers Training Corps of the Armed Forces. After college, he became a board-certified public accountant (CPA) in the Philippines. Nestor was also president of Sigma Delta Pi fraternity where he made friendships that have lasted over six decades.

In search of new adventures, Nestor immigrated to the United States in 1968 and settled in Jersey City, NJ. He worked as an accountant for Coltec Industries in New York City for over 20 years. Through mutual friends, during a picnic in a park while playing card games, he met his love, Constancia Laureta Somera, in 1970. Connie won his heart by tending to his belly with her home-cooked Filipino meals.  They embarked on their biggest adventure when they were married on October 14, 1972 and moved to Pine Brook, NJ where they raised their three children.  Given his love for traveling and photography, Nestor and Connie explored the world together with family and friends.

Nestor was known for his welcoming smile, warm heart, and kind soul. He was a brave fighter who never complained and lived life with dignity and courage. He always remained calm and collected within the large and rambunctious family that he married into. He was a humble man, a man of few words, a man who always spoke from the heart. He was thoughtful in his counsel, methodical in his actions, and generous in his love.

Nestor is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Constancia (nee Somera) Uy; his three beloved children, Lawrence S. Uy and his wife, Maria Jasmin Zaragoza of Naperville, IL, Clarence Darryl Uy and his husband, Robert Brown of Freeport, ME, and Natalie S. Uy and her partner Keita Toda of New York, NY; two sisters, Merle Tordesillas of the Philippines, and Zelin Ocampo of Canada; a half-brother, Santiago Lotilla IV of the Philippines; and his cherished grandson, Lincoln Z. Uy.  He was preceded in death by a grandson, Hudson Z. Uy; a brother Oscar Lotilla; and three half-brothers, Edbert, Erick and Michael Lotilla.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday, April 26, 2026, 2:00pm to 6:00pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha (Parsippany).
