Obituary of Joseph Stuart Newman

Joseph S. Newman passed away Wednesday morning, October 8, 2025 at Morristown Medical Center, Morristown, NJ. He was 78.
Born in Bronx, NY, Joseph moved to Fair Lawn, NJ at the age of 8. After courting the love of his life, the former Marsha J. Aszkenas, the couple were married on December 27, 1969 and settled in Saddle Brook, NJ before making their home the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany 52 years ago. He and Marsha had also wintered in Estero, Florida for many years.
Joey was a 1969 graduate of Wagner College, Staten Island, NY.
A financial advisor, he was the proprietor of Newman Wealth Management of Morristown, NJ for over 40 years before his retirement in 2023. Previously, he had owned several Food Wide, Pioneer and MET supermarkets in Bronx and Queens, NY.
Joey was a longtime congregant of Temple Beth Am in Parsippany. An avid softball player and golfer, he was a member of several softball leagues until his late 60's. He was also a member of the Knoll Golf Club, was active in the golfing community in Estero, Florida, and the Mountain Lakes Tennis Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marsha J. (nee Aszkenas) Newman; his two beloved sons, Matthew S. Newman and his wife Rebecca of Washington Crossing, PA, and Andrew M. Newman and his wife, Dory of Caldwell NJ; a dear brother, Robert Newman and his wife, Cheryl of Bonita Springs, FL; and five cherished grandchildren, Luke, Jake, Lola, Brody, and Remy Newman.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Sunday, October 12, 2025, 11:30am at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha, NJ. Interment will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus. The period of mourning will be observed at the family residence on Sunday from 4:00pm-8:00pm and Monday from 12:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm.
