Obituary of Alfred Hilkman

Alfred “Bud” Hilkman passed away on September 25, 2025. He shared 84 years of love with his family.

Born to the late Alfred and Elizabeth Hilkman, Bud was their only child and a true blessing. After his schooling, he met the love of his life, Dorothea Hahn. The two married in 1962 and made their home in Montville, where they raised four daughters. He worked hard to give his family a good life. He was the owner and operator of CGI, Inc.

Bud had a passion for the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, he loved every opportunity to be in nature. Summers at the family’s home in Long Beach Island created memories that will be treasured forever. Above all, Bud was devoted to his family. He was a proud father and an adoring Grandpa to his crew of ten grandchildren. Bud never missed an opportunity to attend a game, a dance recital, a school play or anything in the kids’ lives. Most recently, he was crowned the title of Great Grandpa!

Bud had a deep faith. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Pius and lived a life rooted in love and devotion. Although we are saddened by his passing, we believe he is reunited with his beloved eldest daughter, Lisa Suppa who passed before him.

He leaves beautiful memories to his wife Dot of 63 years; his daughters Tracy Mattiace (Frank), Jill Spector (Jay) and Allison Conlan (Wayne); his grandchildren Ashley Sakdolan (Matt) , Danielle Suppa and Samantha Suppa, Alexandra Mattiace and Frankie (Julia) Mattiace, Sophia and Alexa Spector, and Jake, Zach and Nick Conlan; his great granddaughter Emilia Mattiace; his son in law Frank Suppa; his brother and sister in law Richard and Carol Hahn; his sister in law Carol Anne Moshier; his nieces and nephews Alexis and Matthew, David and Karen; and many more dear relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 29, 2025 at 11 am at St. Pius X RC Church, 24 Changebridge Road, Montville.  Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
