Obituary of Jayanti B. Desai

Jayanti B. Desai passed away, Tuesday July 15, 2025 at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains, NJ following a sudden accident. He was 83.

Born in Palsana, Gujarat, India, Mr. Desai immigrated to the United States in 1968. He was a longtime resident of Lincoln Park, NJ.

Mr. Desai earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Chemistry from the Navsari Science School in Gujarat, India.

He had been a Professor of Chemistry with the Navsari Science School for many years. After settling in the United States, Mr. Desai worked as a Chemical Engineer with the New York Department of Health, New York, NY for 25 years, retiring in 2000.

Mr. Desai was a longtime dedicated member of the Isckon Temple of Towaco, NJ.

Jayanti was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Shashi J. Desai (nee Vakil); his two beloved sons, Nishit J. Desai and his wife Nirali N. Desai of Denville, NJ; Rakesh J. Desai and his wife, Ketu R. Desai of Lincoln Park, NJ, and four dear grandsons, Suneet N. Desai, Shivam N. Desai, Parth R. Desai and Abhay R. Desai. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Rohini Desai and Hemlata Desai and by his brother Dilip Desai. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Puja Funeral Service on Friday, July 18, 2025, 11:00am to 1:00pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha, NJ. Cremation will follow at 2:00pm at Rosedale Crematory, 408 Orange Road, Montclair, NJ.
